THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Partners,

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I share the news that Anna’s Place Mission will officially close its doors on December 31, 2024. After almost six incredible years of service, I am transitioning to a new assignment working with Riggs Park Baptist Church missions and outreach. This next chapter brings excitement, but it also fills me with deep appreciation for everything we have accomplished together.

Since our founding in March 2019, Anna’s Place Mission has provided food, hygiene essentials, and spiritual encouragement to the unhoused, seniors, and created space for worship through our 'According to His Word' Worship Hour. With every '1Drop' bag delivered and every connection made, we have sought to affirm the dignity and worth of every individual, living out our values of compassion, empathy, and service.

The African story of the hummingbird has been an inspiration on this journey. As the hummingbird bravely carried one small drop of water toward a forest fire -undaunted by those who questioned if such a small act could matter - it responded, “I’m doing the best I can.” I believe God asks the same of us: to do our best with what we have. And together, through your generosity, volunteer efforts, and prayers, we have made a profound impact. Together we gave out over three thousand “1Drop” bags, hundreds of towels, hundreds of hats, gloves, scarves, and socks.

Our Purpose has always been to bring about a positive transformation - not just in those we serve, but in how people see their role in society. Whether you donated, volunteered, shared an encouraging word, or prayed for this mission, you have been part of something truly meaningful.

From street-side outreach to seniors, from acts of kindness to spiritual nourishment, Anna’s Place Mission has reflected a community working together to make a difference. I want you to know that your efforts have mattered, just as each drop of water can, together, extinguish a fire.

While this chapter of Anna’s Place Mission is coming to a close, the spirit of our work will live on through the ministries we’ve touched, the lives we’ve served, and the new opportunities that God has placed before us. Because the “According To His Word” Worship Hour was a part of Anna’s Place Mission, it too is shutting down, our final service will be Watch Night (10pm – 12). I invite you to stay connected through a new endeavor called “Micah 6:8 Ministries”, which will continue to provide spiritual encouragement on YouTube beginning January 1stat 1pm. New services will premiere 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays and during key times like Watch Night, Holy Week, and other holidays. We also intend to continue providing inspirational programs and devotions.

Thank you for believing in “the inherent worth of people” and for standing with us to “serve those who feel marginalized by society”. It has been an honor to serve alongside you. I look forward to what God has in store for the future as we continue to do the best we can - together.

With deep appreciation,

Rev. Dr. Angela Fox Wheeler

ADDENDUM

Asset Distribution Upon the Dissolution of Anna’s Place Mission

As we are preparing for the closure of Anna’s Place Mission on December 31, 2024, we want to ensure transparency in the next steps. In accordance with federal tax law governing 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, after satisfaction of any outstanding debts, all remaining assets will be distributed to other qualified non-profit organizations.

Although Maryland law does not have a single statute explicitly requiring this, the necessary guidelines are detailed in the “dissolution clause” of our Articles of Incorporation, which were filed with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation. This clause ensures that any remaining resources are directed to charitable purposes, in alignment with our mission and values, and cannot result in personal gain for any individual.

Our goal, even in this closing chapter, is to remain faithful to the principles that guided Anna’s Place Mission. The legacy of compassion, empathy, and service will continue through the support of another non-profit organization, ensuring that the impact of this mission endures.

To date, we have already distributed:

Vermont Avenue Baptist Church

· Approximately 100 “1Drop” bags and hygiene items

Riggs Park Baptist Church

· 1 five-foot steel table

· Bibles and religious tracts

· Food and hygiene items

Thank you again for your unwavering support throughout this journey.
